Reflections on John's Letters

Well this evening was quite of nice experience...I could not post any photos because they were not as good! But it's ok. So I tell you more about the even now! It was very well organized. There were some three student organizations into it! I was in the choir as well and I also read an excerpt from the first letter of John in Maltese...All the letters of John were read in some seventeen different languages...this is the church...the church where we get to celebrate our diversity.
After each letter we got to sing some Taize' songs which help to create a very meditative atmosphere and also some of our colleague students presented a reflection on each of the letter. All went well...and now it's time for me to hit the bed as tomorrow I have classes early in the morning and then I get to work on my thesis' outline as later on I have to meet up with my promoter - Profs. Hans Ausloos!

Spot the Differences

Mika & Me
Spot the differences!!

[F'dan ir ritratt gejt qisni qed nimbutaha minn fuq il bank - hehe]

It is so beautiful to be around so many people from all over the globe...Just got in my room after a German Food House Meal! It was pretty simple yet so meaningful! You get to know what you share in common with these other people and yet you get to see that you also stand on a different plane which makes us all unique. Identity is not lost! Identity gets to be affirmed! So let's open up to others and behold others as our mirrors! I got to learn some good interesting things about popular sayings in different countries today...which I want to list down so that they will never get to escape me...

Out with the old in with the new
[English - K. Merrigan]

You already have a "no" now you can only have a "yes"
[Dutch - B. Doyle]

Off to have some sleep...I'll be reading in an excerpt from the letters of John in Maltese at a University Event tomorrow at the Groot Begijnhof...Maltese will be one language among some other seventeen languages in which the letters will be read and meditated upon! Isn't this a true celebration of diversity!!

Will get back to you on this!

Sunday Mass @ UPIC

Aren't they cute?! These are some of the children that are part of the university parish community...they get together for the offertory...they get to walk forward in a procession to the altar with candles and other things that they could get hold of...

I happened to be sitting at the very back of the church aisle and as they got together, all of sudden they just decided to reach out to each other and hold their hands and I couldn't but capture this moment with the camera lense! This is what is meant by unity! Children get to teach us what it is to stand together facing each other whilst holding hands...

The smile and glossy eyes says it all!! So I guess I'll not take it further!!

Children are truly a blessing!!

Independence Day - Poland

Basha & Philip

These are all Polish! Celebrating Independence Day! They all came together to sing songs of praise and thanksgiving to the Lord! I stood in awe and wonder as I listened to them. I was actually invited over by Zuzanna to join at this small festivity. I felt so much honoured to be amongs them! There was even a moment of prayer and I was even asked to pray in Maltese...and they were fascinated to hear me say the Our Father...

Multi-Lingual/Cultural Lunch

Holland, Thailand, Germany, Malta, Ireland, New Zealand, Ukraine, Poland

X'gabra ta ward!! Well this is Sunday afternoon...having some sweet lunch with some choir members from the University Parish - Justus Lipsius. These were unexpectedly invited over by Zuzanna as she had dozens of pancakes prepared for the "Up With People" Cast who never showed up! We were actually expecting them to turn up at Mass on Sunday and to then volunteer to show them round the city and finally to host them at our College for a quick snack...

This reminds me of the parable whereby Jesus gets to tell his disciples that many were those who were invited for the banquet feast but not one of them turned up so others were called to join...Blessed are they!

Service @ LEST

Nicholas J. Doublet, Me, Thomas Eggers

Ara xi hlew!! haha...Well this photo is a souvenir that I will come to cherish even more as time goes by...These two chaps in the photo are of great excellence. I consider them as model-figures as a theology student...They will most likely be teaching at some prestiguous university - at Tubingen or maybe even at some Pontifical University. Wish you all the very best.

LEST Conference '07

Just got back from the service at St Michael's Church on Naamsestraat which brought the event to a close. It was quite of a nice experience which I'm sure all will cherish. Profs. Peter De Mey was the chair of the conference. He invited all his students to attend and I made it a point to attend most of the sessions.

After the ecumenical service I went up to him to congratulate him and even to kindly request to become a member of the choir which he directs...and he was well pleased. He asked me for my details and he promised to get back to me to notify me about next time's choir practice. Christmas would be the next occassion!! Hope I'll still be here for that!!

After that I went for lunch at Notre Dame with the Maltese Delegation for the LEST conference. It was quite of an enriching experience yet the craziest of weeks!!

Off to rest for a while!!

Full Days....

Woww...what a week!! This is the busiest week ever, which explains why it has been quite some time since I posted anything...so here I came this morning...after a full blown long weekend. Let's start from somewhere and that is Thursday...well I went to mass and then got back home to read more about the Holocaust...prepared a good dish and then I just rested for the whole of the afternoon...could not run any errands as all shops were closed...then on all souls' day I was an early bird...as I had to do my laundry before I got going for the church...then got back from church headed to the bakery but also in the meantime decided to hit some shops as I needed to buy some items for saturday night...and I bought more things than I planned to but that's with me!! I have to work on this!

As for Saturday, I took a bus to Korbeek-Lo which is one of the various suburbs of Leuven. Quite a cute place with several big stores...there was also this big supermarket where I finally managed to find a cleaning cloth for my mama...whenever she calls she always inquires about this "kamoxxa" which she found out reading the packaging was made in Belgium...and there you go...I found her what she was asking for and I was very glad for then I could rest in peace...
It was actually by great coincidence for I wasn't planning to get to this supermarket and I don't usually go and look into the section where cleaning products are displayed...but anyways many things just happen by coincidence...

Then I hit some two other sports shoe stores...Primo and Brantano...I had already checked about their products and that's why I actually wanted to get there as I wanted to get a Nike low profile fitness shoes from Brantano which is being sold for some 80euros...everywhere but Brantano Store has it on sale and it was being sold for some 54euros...but guess what when I got to the store they didn't have it there and I inquired how could that be!! The shop assistant that I should head back home and request for the shoes to be sent to their store....voulaa....so that's what I did but as with everything all instructions I could follow only in Dutch or French...and I happen to be ignorant of both...but to my own mischief I actually managed to follow the instructions in Dutch...for many of the words resemble German of which I am reasonably familiar with!

And now I just have to wait upon them to get back to me to let me know when I could go and pick up the shoes! It usually takes some 10working days for the 'request-order' to be processed! So that's today's week. Hope I have it before that for I can't wait to do some good excercise though as for this week Dr Rikka De Roy recommended that I should rest my knee as much as possible given that I have strained it a little bit! She even subscibed me some medicine which I won't take for she doesn't really know how come I have such knee-pain...

So I'll only be taking in her advice and rest it as much as I can! So I can wait with ease on Brantano...

Then saturday evening came! Went to an Irish Pub with the Salsa Dancer and had a glass of wine!! It was quite good! Then we headed to good salsa bar whereby we stayed dancing for some time! Then headed back home to rest and be able to wake up for the Sunday mass...

Had lunch together and then we both parted way so that I could do some study and he could do his laundry...got back to me after that!!

Wowww...and then it was Monday!! Rushed to the library printed out my research paper proposal and then hit the secretariat office and handed it in there!

Hit the shops afterwards! Bought some groceries!

Then I had classes in the evening and after my classes I went out to meet up with some Maltese friends who came over to Leuven for the LEST conference which is taking place this week...it took off yesterday...Indeed I attended one of the Junior Paper Sessions where my budy delivered a paper with great success...I was so proud of him...he truly had a very clear cut presentation whereby everyone could follow with great ease and when the discussion floor was opened he was so well prepared that he truly conveyed that he knows his work and material!
Good for you John!! Keep on rolling!!

By then I had been at the faculty for some 7hours...had to wake up early to revise for the Greek test for which I got full marks again!!! I'll have to keep this up!

I was not planning to go for the opening of the LEST conference but in the end was persuaded by my friends to go...and it was all the way worth it! But was so much exhausted....I had a full day yesterday and another one awaiting me today...will be attending a couple of more plenary sessions of the LEST conference and then head to the Biblical Studies seminar and then get to attend a concert in aid of Ghana...

Will get back to you after that...

Halloween Party '07

Zuzanna, Me & Gabi

Look at this!!! It's Thursday morning and I feel over the moon! Had a splendid night at Pangea with my friends!! Stayed out till early this morning! Had no costume no wear...just decided to go for a black turtleneck and jeans...applied some make up and then had to add some white powder to my face but believe me I applied as many layers as both friends together but still I was not as slightly whiter!! But the fact that they are Polish and I'm Maltese explains it all!! Had some good photo shots in my room before we got to get going to Pangea...then meet a German friend of ours - Christina - who is here as an Erasmus Student from the University of Tubingen!!
Believe me she is one of the best dancers I've ever met...has the rhythm in her! I only had to follow her steps and voulaa we had the floor!! Wuuu!

And then a Salsa dancer came over to where we where and guess what...he beated us both but we still let the rhythm take us over!! Christina had to leave earlier as she had to take the train to Germany! But I stayed with the Salsa Dancer...it was so much fun! So sensual! Indeed, it has always been my dream to learn some steps of Salsaa.....and now I have an instructor all for myself!! Will be meeting him on Saturday for this!!

Have to go and rest my feet and get them ready for Saturday!! More of this later!!
